Supporting Families in Our Community

Follow me as I follow Christ.

Since 2003, Fireproof Ministry has been an independent Pentecostal church in the Chalkfarm neighbourhood of Toronto (Downsview). We began with a mandate to strengthen our community and improve people’s welfare through education, support and spiritual growth in the worship of God. From a small congregation that gathered in the Chalkfarm community centre, we have since doubled our membership and moved to our current location on Westmore Drive, close to Finch and Highway 27.

Providing worship, education and support for the Chalkfarm community.

Our membership is family-oriented, inclusive and multicultural. We are guided by God  to educate and equip our worshippers to take charge of their personal well-being and livelihood. In addition to worship services, we provide much-needed access to education, support, resources and community services to improve all aspects of life: spiritual, physical, mental and financial.

A church that grew out of community need.

The Fireproof church was founded by Bishop Green in the early 2000s as an informal worship service in the Chalkfarm neighbourhood of Toronto. At that time, Chalkfarm was a very troubled community that needed support. Fireproof quickly emerged as a beacon of hope, a place where people came to pray, receive guidance for their lives, and assistance to give their youth focus and direction. Over two years, it emerged from a grassroots movement to a full Ministry, led by Bishop Green.

About our Leadership Team and Their Mandate

Fireproof is led by Bishop David Green and a strong team of pastors, chaplains, evangelists and missionionaries.

We are united in our belief in Christ, and passion for serving the community.

Our leadership mandate includes:

  • A desire to equip men and women with keys to unlock their destiny.
  • Empowering our people to be the best they can be, both inside and outside the church walls.
  • A belief that God has a purpose for bringing us together.
  • A belief that we all have gifts and attributes that help us thrive – individually and collectively
  • A desire to create space for you to become more effective in making a positive difference in our ministry and our community.

Our leaders are committed to equipping, empowering, and guiding each and every worshipper on their journey.

Look to us for opportunities to learn, to serve, and to lead.

We look forward to the continued growth of our congregation, and welcome you join, and forge ahead with us!

Mission Statement

We exist to help people know God, discover their purpose and create change.

Vision

We are devoted to building an engaged, passionate and spiritually-healthy community of people and to make our family worship centre a hub for the community.

Guiding Principles & Values

Biblically Based

God’s Word is our guide, authority, and conscience in everything. We stand firm where it stands firm and remain flexible where it is flexible (2 Timothy 3:16).

Fully Devoted To Christ

We measure our success by our ability to be and make disciples. Full devotion to Jesus is normal for every believer (Luke 9:23).

Grounded In Grace

We acknowledge our complete dependence on the goodness and grace of God. We benefit from the kind intention of His will; therefore, we eagerly extend it to others (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Service

Each believer received a special gift and should employ it in serving others and be good stewards of the manifold grace of God (1Peter 4:10).

  • We value the Word of God as our ultimate source of hope and life change.
  • We value leading believers into the fullness of the Spirit and wellness.
  • We value partnering and equipping families.
  • We value empowering people to fulfill their God given purpose in this world

Statement of Faith

What we believe

The Bible

The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings. They are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

God

There is one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three manifestations: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a complete and final sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of God, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

The Holy Spirit

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age, to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

Man

Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

Salvation

The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.

The Return of Jesus Christ

The personal, premillennial, and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ is our hope and has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

Future Events

There will be a bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

The Church

The true Church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head.

Baptism and Communion

Water baptism by immersion soon after accepting Christ as personal Savior, is a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial service setting forth in sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ; all true believers and only believers should share in it.
